Albert Einstein, a German physicist known for his theory on relativity was born in Ulm, Germany. Despite difficulties in speech, he was a well performing student. He started research in physics from the age of ten. He is most famous for this theory of relativity which connects mass and energy for which he won a Nobel Prize in physics in the year 1921.

He formulated the photoelectric effect which says that light is made of small packets of energy, an idea which Max Planck originally introduced.

He supported atomic theory with his research on Brownian Movement which dealt with random motion of small objects.

He brought in special relativity theory to explain the relationship between the speed of light and the relative motion of the observer.

He said that starlight was deflected due to sun’s gravitational force on it which was later confirmed by Arthur Stanley, a British astronomer.

He is also known for revolutionary research in the field of quantum mechanics, unified field theory and Bose Einstein statistics.

Besides the Nobel Prize, he also won the Copley Medal in 1925 and Max Planck Medal in 1929. He died on April 18th, 1955.
