</p><p>Martinique is an island located in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It is one of the twenty six regions of France. It being a part of France is also a part of European Union. The currency used here is Euros. Antillean Creole is spoken by majority of the Martinique inhabitants. As per survey in 1999, Martinique marked population as 381, 427, and stands 24th in regards to population. There are 34 communes of Martinique overseas department of France. </p><p> Martinique has popular culture that has blends of French and Caribbean influences. The traditional French customs are followed. The official language of Martinique remains French, although some speak Antillean Creole. Martinique has been a popular vacation hotspot. Martinique has a hybrid cuisine of African, French, and Asian traditions. </p><p> Economy of Martinique is based on trade. 6 % of GDP is contributed by agriculture sector and 11 % of GDP is contributed by small industrial sector. The sugar production has declined as most of the sugarcane is used for the production of rum. The banana exports are increasing. Meat, grain, and vegetable are imported. Tourism has become an important foreign exchange source. Most of the work force is employed in the administration and service sector. </p><p>
