</p><p>Dominica is an island nation that lies between the north of Guadeloupe and south of Martinique (two French overseas) in the Caribbean Sea. The capital is Roseau and the largest city. The estimated population is 71,727. It is the youngest island of the Lesser Antilles. The Sisserou parrot is the national bird and is characterized in the national flag. The climate is mildly tropical. The temperature ranges from 25 degree Celsius in winter and 28 degree Celsius in summer months. The driest months are during spring season and in late summer heaviest rainfall occur.</p><p> Dominica’s culture is mixed as it is a home of wide variety of people occupied by many tribes, French, British, and slaves from Africa. They elect the chief themselves. Official language spoken is English but sometimes French Creole is also used. Cricket is the famous sport. Creole music festival was held on every year Oct 25-27 as their first activity. Cable and Wireless, Digicel, and UK based company Orange are some of few telecommunication companies which provide service to this island. Mobile networks also operate on island. </p><p> Dominican economy is support on both agriculture and tourism. Its exports include bananas, tobacco, vegetables, and coconut oil. Bananas have become the backbone of Dominica’s economy. It has high poverty rate of 30%, per capita GDP is low (US$5,400). It has many tourists spots like the Indian River in Portsmouth, Trafalgar falls, world’s largest Boiling Lake. Dominica was chosen for the film Pirates of Caribbean in 2004 for its natural beauty.</p><p>
