</p><p>Officially known as the Republic of Poland, Poland is a country in Central Europe. It is the 69th largest country in the world and 5th in Europe. It is the 33rd most populous country in the world. The climate in Poland is mostly temperate throughout the country.</p><p> Poland has been a homogeneous state since the end of World War II. Catholics make up about 90% of the population. Despite drop in religious rites, Poland remains one of the most religious countries in Europe. The territory of Poland extends across five geographical regions. Total population is 38.5 million.</p><p> Poland is a liberal democracy and the current president is Lech Kaczynski. The election for the president takes place every 5 years. Since the communism fall Poland has steadfastly pursued a policy of liberalizing the economy and stands out as a successful example of the transition from state directed economy to a primarily private owned market economy. An aggressive private sector has been developed due to the privatization of small and medium state owned companies and a liberal law on establishing new firms. About 3145 square kilometers of land, that is 1% of area of Poland is protected within 23 national parks. Poland is also a member of the European Union, NATO, and OECD.</p><p>
